Default June 6th 1944 : 20 Meg Content

Today is June 6th, in 1944 Operation Overlord was well underway, and between a combination of good fortune, planning and the determination of thousands of allies, the german army faced the first of several serious defeats. Everything at this point was still in the air, if the Allies failed it would be months before another invasion could be planned.

So I thought it would be appropriate to show our preparations for 1944 : Operation Overlord.

Enjoy!!

This is amazing. Absolutely amazing! If I die before this game comes out, my soul will not rest in peace.

A fitting tribute to the people who fought 63 years ago to the day.

Audio update was by far the best yet! Really got the hairs on my arms standing just thinking about what the lads must've went through - most of them actually being 'lads' too, with no experience of what they were about to go into. I think you got it spot on with the troops approaching Gold, talking like it was going to be a push-over for them.

Constructive crits, I think the voice acting could've been a bit louder and more dramatised when the men were shouting, but I do understand (like you said Ronan) that these were not the final voices.. and the concepts in the audio update weren't final. Got the sounds of war spot on though, by far the best i've heard yet (in any game).

That ricochet near the end actually made me jump too.. I thought it was going a bit quiet so I turned up the volume to catch what was going on...I regret that now as my house was raised from it's foundations..

Models are also awesome, loving the Mg-42! Keep it up!

Congrats FG!!

Hmm, I think you accidentally mixed mp-41 with STG... (I just mean that theres few pictures of stg in mp41 section.)

But, very nice pics and audio samples anyways.

Fantastic update. The new sound clip is amazing! The weapon sounds and explosions and general ambience are exceptional. Good work!

Nah just too damn many pictures to go through, I bundled them in the wrong area. Moved down to the MP44.

Brilliant just brilliant!!! I'm speechless. Job well done team! A very good way to trubute those brave men and women (nurses) who gave everything for our freedom. And to think this happened only 63 years ago.

By the way, how do I open the audio files?

Very nice update. I just love this new audio update! There characters actually spoke, and not only shout some few commands...very very nice!

Once again this hard work has impressed me.

Duke, Ronan said that this is not a script, or final voice acting.

The audio(actual voice acting) for me still remains the most puzzling and interesting aspect of the whole game. I mean, how and in what amount actual voice acting will be featured...

Few question essentially arise after hearing this most interesting and atmosperic audio...(sorry, I may seem a torn in the ass regarding whole "audio" stuff, it just VERY interesting how it's planned to be featured)
We all know that main portions of dialogues and direct speech is going to be generic, BUT-

1. are you intend to feature similiar(as in 3 sample) dialogs/monologues in-game?(i.e. voice scripts for special cases, such as those in 3 sample)
2.Are they going to be that long?

If it's still hard to answer, just ignore me.

Anyway, VERY good job, audio team. I'm still impressed. Cooler then in Armed Assualt.)))

Yes I know that, but still it is very enjoyable to listen to. There are no other wargames that can reach in this quality and atmosphere(even this )

Well, thats my opinion at least.

Its definitely possible to have this sort of dynamic dialogue put forth from an AI system. I haven't seen Ronan's system, but I've seen tech demos do it, and they're fully interactive with the player.

The only thing is that sometimes these systems are confused by some idioms, some figures of speech, some misspellings and grammatical errors, and some conjunctions, and they sometimes misinterpret meanings because they don't understand the context of the dialogue as a whole.

fantastic update. I loved the audio, although the voice acting did seem a bit reserved especially the last bit landing on the beach, but if it is not the final then no worries.

One of the best updates ever! Sadly I'm at school so can't listen to the audios (laptops blow) but the pics were stunning, I especially liked the Long Tom pics. Keep up the good work guys.

The audio was excellent, I loved the gliderborne bit. Do you need more English voice actors, cos it sounded like you had 2 guys? One of which sounded like the one with the funny hair from "The IT Crowd" - no offence, lol.

Congrats yet again on the audio.. can't stop listening to it!

Best bit by far - "think of all the men who died here all those years ago"... (I thought this was the end..) *VSHOOOM!* (rifle round flying past)

Yeah I was thinking the same, I remember one of the first questions I asked was whether there would be different accents.. I'd love to represent the Geordies!
