Default DoD: Source Pacific Theatre?

I'm not a huge fan of DOD, but this could be interesting:

Quote:
DoD: Source? Pacific Theatre modification features multiplayer, team-based game play set in the WWII Pacific theatre of operations. The game takes all the unique features of the classic DoD game and expands the war into the Pacific.
The mod will include Japanese weapon models, animations and skins, new Japanese player class models and skins, Japanese voice taunts, and all new Pacific themed WWII environments. All of which will immerse the player in Hell in the Pacific.

I saw that. A mod for a "mod". Want to see how it turns out.

Day of Defeat: Source is a standalone game.

I can play it without Half-Life 2 on my computer, and you can buy it seperatly.
However mini-mods for mods isn't that special...
Look at BF1918 and Red Orchestra (which has been split into a standalone game recently too)

I bet this will be better than Medal of Honor: Pacific Assault.

Did anyone ever try that actual pacific mod that came out for HL1? Shores of Victory I think. It was pretty fun for a bit, but came out late in HL1 so I think it was kind of overlooked because of the dated graphics.

No, might be worth a try, graphics don't look that bad. The mod's dead but the beta can still be downloaded.

I also know for a fact that a HL2 mod called The Last Great War is also centered on the Pacific War.

Much better graphics compared to Day of Defeat: Source (the only thing that lacks is HDR).

The gameplay also seems much better.

I've been with LGW since the day they came to HL2 and am still a supporter(even with the Ronan-LGW Team schism), and the public really doesn't know how the actual mod will play out.

I was also a tester for SoV. It was fun while it lasted, but it didn't last all that long. It was "fun" dealing with everyone saying the devs stole models from DoD when the SoV team modellers released their models as customs for DoD long before the mod's release

Hmm, the Pacific Theature you say? Sounds interesting, and its often overlooked in most World War II games, that mostly focus on the European fronts.

Not so much on topic: I was also thinking that it wouldn't be too difficult to make some Day of Defeat: Source singleplayer missions, I had a really dodgy Idea a while ago to replace the combine soldier model from Half-Life 2 with a German Soldier form DoD...as I said, dodgy...but yeah anyway, pacific theature...it will be interesting to see how it works out with the DoD gameplay formula, what with the jungle and all...
